PowerPoint - Adding Section and Appendix Dividers

Modified on Thu, 24 Sep at 10:43 AM

Presentations can be divided into sections and appendices. There are two types of section and appendix divider slides:

A slide displaying the section/appendix name and number (and an agenda/table of contents at the beginning of the presentation).

OR

“Repeated dividers” which list all the sections and appendices in the presentation with the current section/appendix highlighted (therefore no agenda/table of contents at the beginning of the presentation).

Subsection titles are optional and can be added to the section divider slides and included in the agenda/table of contents.

Adding Section and Appendix Dividers

To insert a standard section or appendix divider, select Dividers from the ribbon or from the Layouts task pane.

From the Single Dividers panel on the Layouts task pane.

  • Select Section or Appendix.
  • Type in the section or appendix title.
  • Check Include section mini TOC to include a section mini TOC on the divider. See Article: Adding a Section Mini TOC
  • If your presentation contains Section Trackers, check Refresh section tracker to update them at the same time. See Article: Adding Section Trackers
  • Click Apply.

A section or appendix divider slide will be inserted. The slide will be inserted after the slide that was selected in the presentation. Add a subsection title to the slide if required.

Once inserted, you can move the divider slides to elsewhere in the presentation.

You can use the task pane to insert further dividers or you can duplicate existing ones (CTRL+D).
