PowerPoint - Inserting Rows and Columns in a Table

Modified on Thu, 24 Sep at 10:44 AM

Use native PowerPoint table tools to insert rows and columns in a table.

Inserting a Row

Place your cursor in the row next to the one where you wish to insert the new one. Go to the Table Tools Layout ribbon (which will appear automatically when you click into the table) and from the Rows & Columns group choose Insert Above or Below as required.

If you have changed the height of any rows, you may need to redistribute them evenly later. Select the rows you want to format and select the Distribute Rows button.

Inserting a Column

Place your cursor in the column next to the one where you wish to insert the new one. Go to the Table Tools Layout ribbon (which will appear automatically when you click into the table) and from the Rows & Columns group choose Insert Left or Right as required.

If you have inserted or deleted columns, you may wish to adjust the width of some or all of the columns. Select the columns you wish to format and select the Distribute Columns button.
